To create the press:
You could use two flat pieces of wood, as seen here, with a couple layers of cardboard in between. You will also need to lay out an open newspaper in between. Finally, you will need pieces of rope or strong twine to tie everything together.
The plant will be in the middle with newspaper around it, then a layer of cardboard on either side, then the wood on top and bottom. The ropes are used as straps to help tie the press together tightly to smash the plant down.
