The old-fashioned cookies are like your grandma used to make… including the worms that were in her cupboard, too!
1/2 cup shortening 1 t. baking soda
1/2 cup margarine 1 t. cinnamon
1 cup brown sugar 1/4 t. nutmeg
1 cup sugar 3 cups quick oats
2 eggs 3/4 cup raisins (optional)
1 - 1 1/2 cup flour 1/2 cup chopped, roasted mealworms (see recipe below)
1 t. vanilla
Cream shortening, margarine, sugars. Mix in eggs and vanilla. Stir in flour, soda, spices. Stir in oats, raisins (optional), and mealworms. Spread dough onto a greased 13 x 9 cake pan. Bake at 350 for about 20 minutes or until done. Cut into perfect-sized bars.
